The Viewing - Trisagion
The Trisagion (Τρισάγιο) is usually performed the evening before the Orthodox funeral service and can take place in our Chapel or in Church.
The prayers of the Trisagion entreat God to grant rest to the departed soul so that it may receive mercy. The Trisagion is usually conducted with an open coffin, giving mourners an opportunity to view the deceased which is why the Trisagion is often referred to as the Viewing.
The Victoria Funerals Chapel was officially consecrated by 14 Greek and Serbian Orthodox priests and is an approved venue for priests to conduct the Prayers and Viewing (Trisagion) on the evening before the Orthodox funeral service.
Using the Victoria Funerals Chapel as a venue for the Viewing (Trisagion) gives families the opportunity to deliver eulogies, play music, display photos and show video tributes in celebration of the deceased’s life, all of which are not permitted in the Orthodox Church in Australia.
